Directed the design of a visual refresh of client’s Silicon Valley office’s Mergers & Acquisitions Forum, a well-attended quarterly conference.
Under an extremely tight deadline with very little direction from client, I and my four fellow designers each produced two campaign concepts built out across four sample pieces. I guided the work based on my deep knowledge of the brand and its limitations, gave other designers direction and focus, and took the resulting ten concepts through five rounds of client presentations until the final concept was approved.
I contributed two abstract concepts, selecting key art from two stock artists specifically for each collateral piece (digital banner and e-vite, PowerPoint deck cover, binder cover, and two sizes of signage), to give each system an innovative visual depth befitting an elite law firm event in the tech capital of the United States. The darker concept was eventually selected to move into production and use across all branded channels.

Design director and lead designer of one of the client’s highest profile events, the New Partner Orientation, an annual reception and conference welcoming the incoming partner class and new lateral partners to the firm.
Concept work began with an extensive exploration of logo marks and color and typography experimentation, before the final elements (the least utilized lightest green of the client’s brand palette, paired with the thinnest weights of its slab and sans serif typefaces) were selected and applied across a wide variety of collateral. Notable components included an elegantly animated PowerPoint presentation that looped throughout the event’s reception and dinner, fourteen 2’x3’ foam core posters that were presented on easels in a gallery outside the dining room, and framed letterpress partner announcements given as gifts to all new partners.

Design director and lead designer of a two-designer team on one of the largest and most comprehensively designed of all of the client's annual events, the Alumni Reunion.
In only its second year, the campaign encompassed over 80 individual collateral pieces that were designed and produced across all branded channels, including print, web and digital, video, PowerPoint presentations, and event signage.
Basic design elements from the previous year's event were used as a foundation for an entirely new visual campaign, with custom-designed logo stamps and word marks, and an elaborately animated PowerPoint presentation with video that looped on jumbo LED boards throughout the culminating evening gala at the Central Park Zoo.

Concept developed for a redesign of client’s brochure system. Key art from one stock artist was chosen, a different piece for each brochure type, abstractly reinterpreting the client’s traditional architectural themes (historically communicated via monochrome photography), with transparent panels from the client’s secondary brand palette. While the direction focused on only the brochure system, the design intent was to develop an entirely new, innovative, and visually sophisticated design system that would be applied across all of the client’s print collateral.

After many pre-launch months of working closely with the design teams contracted to redesign client’s website, one of the first mobile-first responsive sites in the legal space, I became the primary senior visual design resource in support of the site’s maintenance and evolution.
Executed wireframes and visual designs (both original and existing template-based creations), designed site assets and provided image research expertise, and collaborated with staff and contracted developers to ensure visual designs were successfully programmed to spec.
More recently, provided visual design and design direction for the redesign of client's suite of practice group blogs, working closely with contracted developer to ensure consistent, responsive design across all blog properties, and to establish a strategic, highly adaptable template for all existing and future blogs.

Concepts developed for a redesign of client’s two premier annual reports. After only a few months in the client’s studio, becoming familiar with the client’s brand and providing numerous rounds of concepts for a “brand refresh” of its print collateral, I synthesized all of the major design themes I had been using in my explorations to provide concepts for both of the client’s premier annual reports. I used a deconstructed grid, plays with the “W” letter forms and contrasting type weights, more dynamic and abstract photography selections, and color overlays to create more visually engaging layouts within the existing brand but without “locking and stepping in” to its confining, overt visual grid.

Introduced for client’s 2013 print and animated holiday cards, the “Weil Holiday Brand” featured stylized snowflakes composed entirely of ‘W’ letterforms in various sizes and weights of the client’s primary slab serif typeface, Vitesse. The concept was so well-received that it evolved into the client’s “holiday brand,” with extensive redesign of the flakes for the next two subsequent years. Programmed by the vendor, Greeting Card Collection, the 2013 digital card received Bronze placement in the 2013 Horizon Interactive Awards; the 2014 digital card received Gold placement in the 2014 Horizon Interactive Awards.

One of client’s two annual reports, showcasing pro bono achievements throughout the previous year. In its second year featuring its refreshed design, great care was again taken to respect the publication’s historical iconography and attention to visual narrative, while updating the layout within the new design architecture, tightening the typography, and organizing the content in a more cohesive manner throughout.
